Families deserve to understand why a particular school had been chosen to receive asylum seekers. And to dispel any concerns that the disproportionate allocation isn’t to simply adjust for schools having lost a significant percentage of students.

NY lawmakers decided that only rich families should have access to tutoring and rejected the Governor’s proposal.

More symbolic of a broken system are the children of parents who are waiting to become permanent. Often called, ‘Documented Dreamers,’ these are children who came to the US when very young and while their parents wait for greencards they end up deported when they turn 21.

Why would Governor Hochul not sign a bill to enable the Dyslexia Task Force? Is it because she fears educated citizens? Or parents who will then demand that their child be provided a free and appropriate education?

Fast-forward to 2022 and it appears that when we are talking about Manhattan, and the city’s largest school district, it’s not about “the community” anymore otherwise parents would not be leaving.

What we have since come to understand, though, is what Superintendent McGuire’s wife, professor and author of “The History of Zero Tolerance in American Public Schooling,” thinks about middle school screens.
